Iris and Karl play dress up

Donatella Versace

John Galliano

Karl Lagerfeld

Rei Kawakubo

Sonia Rykiel

Carolina Herrera

Vivienne Westwood
Iris Strubegger
This is an editorial from March 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar which was shot by Karl Lagerfeld featuring model Iris Strubegger. Titled "Designer Double Take", it sees Iris dressed up as the ultimate maestros of fashion such as John Galliano, Rei Kawakubo and Carolina Herrera. Modestly, there is an impersonation of Karl as well.  The last image is Iris is practically unrecognisable whilst posing as herself. Viva the power of make-up and styling!

Taylor Momsen + Galliano

Taylor Momsen (aka Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl, aka frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless) is announced to be the face of John Galliano's new perfume. I'm not sure whether I like the idea because I often get influenced by the ad of the perfume in order to go and try it and understand what it represents. Take for example the Chloe' perfume that the whole London stank of last year (myself included). Does the image of Chloe Sevigny with her bed-head hair and dreamy gaze not describe the feel and smell of the perfume perfectly? It's one of my most favorite fragrances of all time. So in Taylor Momsen's case, is the smell going to be a highly complicated cocktail of cigarettes, hairspray and black liner? Agree/disagree?

Brand loyalty taken too far..?

Ok, so it's not unheard of to advertise your love for a certain brand by proudly wearing it accross your chest (think tops with BIG "Versace" on the front = tacky), making your dog wear it (look up Paris Hilton and other bimbos) and even having it plastered all over your sofa (Fendi furniture = sexy). But would you get worried if you were talking to someone and when you gazed in their eyes you saw a branded logo???
Well that's exactly what John Galliano has done by designing a range of contact lenses with a CD logo that is meant to go on the coloured part of your eye (don't know the scientific name for it). The lenses won't change your natural colour or improve your vision.  They will, however, create a black or golden outline around the iris and the coloured part, thereby making your gaze more deep and dramatic (according to Dior). I think this is a step too far. Seriously. If I saw someone wearing those lenses I would literally get scared. I just don't understand why these established houses with a rich background and history feel like they need to do all these "funky" things... It just demeans their exclusivity. There is a classier way to go around this, ie Chanel's transfer tattoos that are gorgeous (and still available in Selfridges). Have a look at them here.

Love Gwen

I'm sorry, but I have a question. Have men officially gone CRAZY? Bad enough that Tiger Woods, Jesse James, Ashley Cole and the rest of the idiots are humping anything that moves (don't care about them anyway) but the allegations that Gavin Rossdale cheated on Gwen Stefani are too much! Who in their right mind would cheat on GWEN STEFANI???????? She's so beautiful and is my style idol.  Friends who know me well, still remember my obsession with Love Angel Music Baby and her "What you waitin for?" video.  She rocked Galliano couture in an Alice in Wonderland themed video before Tim Burton even knew what it was probably. Absolutely NO ONE works red lipstick and leopard print better than her. I just decided to post some of her old photos. Love her. Adore her.
