I love YSL arty rings

I think that Arty rings by Yves Saint Laurent that come in a whole array of colours and finishes are the best way to add that little bit of drama to any outfit and emphasise a pefect manicure.  They are a good investment but be warned, the prices have gone up by 25 pounds since last year so lets hope that YSL is not planning to go all Chanel on us...

In this outfit, I'm combining my three favorite things - white, royal blue and leopard print.  Not forgetting the neon pink lipstick of course.

Things that I love when men wear:
1. Blazers. Especially the fitted types that emphasize the waist (which is hopefully existent)
2. Bow ties. The Rolls Royce of male accessories which is difficult to get right, but if you do, it's SO right.
3. Scarves that are not necessarily there for practical reasons.  I'm talking silk scarves tied around the neck on the inside of the shirt.
4. Slim ties. Preferrably black or gray.
5. Tods shoes. There's just something about them.
6. Pocket squares.  For all those who don't know, it's a little handkerchief that men put inside the front pocket of a blazer which to me, indicates his attention to detail.  In men's case, always a good thing.
7. Male arm candy. Very dangerous territory because there's a risk of looking a bit too metrosexual (as if that's a bad thing).

 

As much as I love men's fashion, the eternal truth remains the same: it's not a sharp suit or crocodile shoes that carry the man, but the man inside who carries all that.

Obsession of the moment: Gem colored clothes!

I don't know if it happens to you, but I've noticed that my taste in colors seems to change every few months.  These days I seem to be attracted to anything purple/fuchsia/emerald green/sapphire blue.  Bright colors help me to delude myself into thinking that summer has finally hit London.  The night when the above photos were taken, the weather was more appropriate for jeans and wellingtons rather than a silk maxi and sandals but i refuse to conform to this psycho climate! June/July is marked down as "summer" in my diary and is therefore nonnegotiable.

Mr Louboutin takes the concept of sky-scraper heels to another level! These are 8-inch one of a kind babies that he has designed especially for charity auction whose proceeds will go to the English National Ballet.  According to the man himself, "[...] isn't the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel?"

Christian Louboutin campaign proves that shoes ARE a work of art

Besides the typical uniform look book for the coming season, Christian Louboutin has once again pushed the boundaries of advertising though the use of clever product placement.  With the help of Peter Lippmann (who was the creator behind the summer 2009 look book), the campaign sees the models dressed up as protagonists from iconic paintings by artists like De La Tour and Nattier, with one little details that differentiates it from the original: a little red-soled treasure.  I have always said that fashion, and shoes in particular, is just another form of art so it's nice to see that there are visionaries out there who share my view!
