Pencil Skirt - a must-have for fall/winter

Trust me darlings, this is THE skirt shape to be seen in.  This fall/winter, loads of designers introduced new and interesting ways to wear the pencil skirt.  I had stereotypical associations of secretary gear connected to this shape, but gone are the days when I was young and stupid (not).  What I find really cool, is dressing it down with a baggy T-shirt or loose shirt and wedges or lace-up boots. I succumbed to temptation too and bought a beautiful maroon one with a leather trim so expect the photos soon.

British Fashion Awards 2010

The fashion crowd has taken over London's Savoy Theater last night for the British Fashion Awards 2010.  I picked out my top three best-dressed women of the evening.  No surprise, Victoria Beckham has not disappointed once again wearing one of her designs from the S/S 2011 collection.  Naomi Campbell chose to pay tribute to the late Alexander McQueen and Claudia Schiffer chose an asymmetric dress by Mary Kantranzou.

And the winners are.........
BFC Outstanding Achievement in Fashion - Alexander McQueen (obviously)
Accessory Designer - Nicholas Kirkwood (not surprised at all)
Model Of The Year - Lara Stone
Menswear Designer - E. Tautz
Emerging Talent Award, Ready-to-wear - Meadham Kirchhoff
Emerging Talent Award, Accessories - Husam El Odeh
Special Recognition - Naomi Campbell
Digital Innovation - Burberry
British Style - Alexa Chung (No comment)
Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator - Nicola Formichetti
Designer Brand - Mulberry (Mmmmmm Alexa...)
Designer Of The Year - Phoebe Philo for Céline

Victoria Beckham Ready-to-Wear Spring 2011

This is the collection that I've been looking forward to for ages and I was not disappointed. The pouting lady of fashion stayed true to her structured dresses that emphasizes a wasp waist (if you're blessed with one, that is) with quite a few flowing shapes. I have to admit that I was a little bit sceptical about some of the colours, the pale palette of nude pinks would look better on olive or dark skinned girls I think. My favorite piece was the draped purple silk dress with a knot on the torso, super chic! Other than that, the collection is very VB. Wearing same shoes!

Victoria and Christina wore the same Alta Bouton Louboutin Ankle Boots.  I think whatever Victoria wears, she always looks amazing and as boring as this might sound, acts her age.  Christina's comeback, however, left me a bit sceptical. Her dirrty heyday come attached with nostalgic memories of teenage hood for me, dancing in the clubs of Cyprus without a care in the world so her new video left me a bit disappointed.  The whole bondage/naked thing is too Gaga/Rihanna and too old and boring now unfortunately just like her slashed skirt. I preferred her so much more with her Marylin Monroe-esque hair and forties outfits. Her T-shirt says "If you don't like it, fuck you".  Oh well, in that case I'm predicting loads of sexual activity happening in the world.
