Break your neck in style - LV rain boots

I'm giving up on sunny weather. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee/face the music.  I live in London where rain is a fact of life that usually comes and hits you on the face when you've just blow-dried your hair/applied eye make-up/wore new shoes.  So in terms of new shoes, I ask myself time and time again, WHY do I even bother to invest money into nice everyday shoes? Today was a classic example.  I wore my pretty leather Kurt Geiger ballerinas, only to have them completely soaked on my way home.  Yesterday, it was raining as well, so I decided to be practical and wore my Burberry wellington boots, only to slip ---> fall ---> bruise both knees ----> rip favourite Miss Sixty jeans that fit PERFECTLY ---> cry over ripped jeans and blue knees ---> cry some more over ruined jeans ---> be in pain the next day so cancelled going out plans.  So my conclusion is this: if I'm going to break my neck anyway while walking in the rain, I might as well do it in style (but next time I'll wear old jeans).  I introduce to you the first ever high-heeled rubber boots by Louis Vuitton.  Yay or nay?

Pencil Skirt - a must-have for fall/winter

Stella McCartney
Trust me darlings, this is THE skirt shape to be seen in.  This fall/winter, loads of designers introduced new and interesting ways to wear the pencil skirt.  I had stereotypical associations of secretary gear connected to this shape, but gone are the days when I was young and stupid (not).  What I find really cool, is dressing it down with a baggy T-shirt or loose shirt and wedges or lace-up boots. I succumbed to temptation too and bought a beautiful maroon one with a leather trim so expect the photos soon.

Ulyana Sergeenko F/W 2011-2012

I honestly love this woman! Ulyana Sergeenko's collection consists of 27 outfits, but I've just picked out my favorite looks.  I particularly love the styling in  this collection - the traditional headscarves and the beautifully curled locks are so lady-like! Lately I've been really thinking about it and came up with the conlcusion that longer hemlines are much sexier that minis because it really makes you wonder what's beneath all the fabric.  The full doll-like floral skirts paired with wolly jumpers are actually really practical for London weather as you can wear thick tights during the winter and still look very dressed-up and feminine.  I can imagine Ulyana wearing each of these outfits, as it has her signature look written all over it! My conclusion: Bravo and can't wait to see more! PS somebody get me that fur trimmed coat!!!!

Charlotte Olympia Kitty shoes

I found the perfect shoes!  I think Charlotte Olympia has such a fresh take on shoes. Last season it was all about the fruit flats and heels and this season I introduce you to the fantastic Kitty collection! There's a style for the practical flats kinda-girl as well as classic black pumps for the conservative types and funky wedges for the more adventurous (which are my personal favorites). Love at first sight!

Guess whose campaign this is!

You'd be pleasantly surprised.  The high street is clearly stepping up it's game in fashion campaigns and I was surprised to know that this is actually Topshop Fall 2011 featuring Nyasha Matonhodze and Hailey Clauson.  The images capture the best that the collection has to offer, including mid-calf dresses, bright colored oriental prints, polka dots (!!!!!!!), faux-fur (not really a fan, I prefer the real thing) and straight-cut jackets.  There's something remotely Marc-Jacobsy-at-Louis-Vuittony two seasons ago happening here but then again, maybe these are just my personal impressions.  Can't wait until all the summer sale junk is out of our sight! Bring on the winter collections!

We love you Karl!

I know it's not very original of me to be posting this, it's been all over the fashion blogs today, as some of you dedicated bloggonistas may know, but I just couldn't resist! This is Uncle Karl sans the trademark shades in the South of France.  Not so scary after all...

Today would have been Yves Saint Laurent's 75th Birthday

"Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it."

"Fashions fade, style is eternal."

"The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy."

"The most beautiful clothes that can dress a woman are the arms of the man she loves. But for those who haven't had the fortune of finding this happiness, I am there."

“I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence”

One of my most favorite designers (and now brands). YSL forever!
