September all over again...

For me, the month of September is always associated with changes - back in the happy and carefree days of childhood, it was the beginning of school, the start of autumn, becoming one year older.  For this September I have decided to post a little timetable of exciting events that will be happening, particularly if you're going to be in London.

1 September - First day of autumn. Kiss your tan goodbye.

3 September - yours truly's birthday. I'm turning a mighty 23 (wish-list available upon request)

8 September - Hussein Chalayan exhibition @ Lisson Gallery, the man is a fashion Einstein!

13 September - New season of Gossip Girl!!!!!!

17-22 September - London Fashion Week

Until 22 September - Vivienne Westwood shoe Exhibition @ Selfridges London

22 September - John Pawson exhibition @ the Design Museum for all of you architecture lovers

Sneakers on a heel

I'm a sucker for high heeled sneakers and trainers, it's true.  The power of a heel is an incredible one and can perform miracles by not only lifting our peachy behinds and visually increasing the length of the legs (not everyone is born a Giselle) but it gives us a psychological sense of power.  Combining sporty masculine elements in a shoe with a feminine heel has always attracted me and my old milkshake-stained heeled Sketchers (which I will never throw) are a testimony.  Even though the colour scheme of these Y-3 torsion heels is a bit too funky for me, I do like its shape.  My latest acquisition are these white babies by Ash and don't  be fooled, they were dirty and battered right from the start! They combine the element of masculinity and femininity that I love so much and the thick heel is comfortable enough to wear everyday.

PS. This is CatsAndCouture's 100th post weheyyyyyy!

Only in Cyprus

The unintentional originality of Cypriot menus will never cease to amuse me.  Look what I found on the menu in a recently opened coffee shop on the island of luuurve.  I'm a bit confused about the reason why these humble cocktails were deemed to  be "fashionable"...Maybe they meant fancy? As in its not a whisky coke that requires zero effort to make? Some things will remain a mystery..

First preview of Ugg and Jimmy Choo collaboration!!!

Here it is my darlings, the very first glimpse of Chuggs, Chooggs or Uggchoos or whatever else you want to call them.  Resourcefully posted on twitter by Nicky Hilton, the boots appear to be the typical Ugg shape with the trademark star studs and a bit of fringing at the top.  To be honest I expected more fireworks. Is that really it?  I do hope that there's a bit more variety present in the rest of the collection but we will just have to wait until October to find out. Keeping in mind that the price tag is somewhat between 495 and 695, I would rather go and spend it on a pair of sexy Choo peep-toes or a pair of snuggly Uggs.  No need to mix the two.

Natalia Vodianova for Russian Vogue

The best part of tearing up the crispy brown envelope at the beginning of each month as Mr Postman stuffs it into my tiny letterbox, is discovering who made it on the cover of Vogue.  This month, the best cover by far is by Vogue Russia that features the beautiful Natalia Vodianova.  Not only is the September issue special because it's the fattest and therefore the juiciest issue of the year, this year it will be extra special because it will be the last one EVER that is edited by the talented Alyona Doletskaya (sob). Out of all the current models, Natalia is my favorite and it has nothing to do with a wave of patriotism that covers me every time I see a surname ending with "va", believe me.  I think no matter how old she becomes, she will always have that look of childish innocence in her eyes. The Louis Vuitton gown and statement earrings create a nice contrast between her naive girly expression and style that is only achieved through womanhood.

Miu Miu does a mini-heel

As shown in the Miu Miu F/W 2010-2011 campaign, mini heels are still going strong. Love or hate?

Kerin.Rose Sunglasses

Raybans and Carreras are sooooo ten years ago. Meet Kerin.Rose sunglasses from the A-Morir collection, worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Rihanna. This is not something you would throw in your beach bag next to the tanning oils and not something you would walk into a supermarket with. Each item is made to order and meticoulously created by hand involving Swarovski crystals, faux pearls, lace and metal spikes. My favorite is the Love/Hate pearl convertible glasses. Created only for the brave and fashion forward people who do not want to stay incognito when they walk into a room.

The trend: bohemian chic

I couldn't resist posting a photo of Ke$ha wearing the same top as me. However, she assumed that it's a dress, the moment it really isn't. I wore mine with a skirt underneath so I have no idea how she managed not to flash her backside to the world.

Beauty Vogue Italia 2010

A spread for Italia Vogue shot by Emma Summerton, featuring models Ranya Mordanova and Natalia Chabanenko. Sorry to disappoint all the ink lovers out there but the impressive body art is not actually real. The girls' blood-red and black lips just add to their "look at me and I'll kill you" attitude.
