How to rock a one-piece swimsuit Rihanna-style

According to Rihanna, you don't have to wear a skimpy bikini to look good at the beach.  The singer was snapped in her native Barbados wearing a feline-printed black swimsuit by We Are Famous.  No pun intended, but after this photo ended up in every paper, the label will actually become famous.

Simachev's New Year's T-shirts

Since according to the Chinese calendar the year 2011 is the year of the Cat, my favorite Russian designer Denis Simachev has made a limited edition T-shirts with the famous cat showman Yuri Kuklachev.  He's famous for being obsessed with cats and having his own cat circus.  The purchase of the t-shirts which are sold exclusively in Simachev boutiques, automatically enrol your name on the guest-list of the Simachev Shop&Bar's New Year's party.

United Bamboo Cat Couture Calendars

I will not run the risk of sounding like a broken record by repeating the obvious.  This fabulousness is a little taster of a 2011 calendar by United Bamboo.  The fashion house created a calendar featuring felines instead of boring humans with their own versions of the brad's pret a porter collection.  Order yours here

Tiffany & Co Ice Skating @Somerset House

I've had these photos in my phone for a while now.  I went to see the Dior exhibition the other day and while I was there I decided to check out the Tiffany & Co ice skating rink.  The Somerset House's whole courtyard was decorated with the signature turquoise Tiffany colour including the baubles on the Christmas tree and there was a pop-up shop with (limited) Tiffany necklaces, bracelets and rings as well as some festive candy.  My conclusion: one of the most romantic places in London this season. Be sure to visit before it's gone!

Quote of the Day

""""I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

Jimmy Choo's first perfume

Following in the footsteps of all luxury brands, Jimmy Choo will be launching its first fragrance that will be available in February 2011.  The campaign features Tamara Mellon herself, who describes the fragrance as "feminine yet empowering, with a lot of sensuality to it".  With notes of pear nectar, Italian orange, tiger orchid and Indonesian patchouli, this liquid fabulousness seems to be too sweet for my taste.  However, as I have mentioned before, I'm the type who gets attracted to the bottle before I even get to smell the perfume and in this case I think the brand philosophy has been seamlessly translated into the packaging with its allusion to exotic animal skin.  Tamara Mellon said that the bottle was inspired my Murano glass and the first thing that came into my mind was work by Rony Plesl available from Vessel Gallery in Notting Hill, London.  Plesl's Uovo Termit vase makes you want to look closer into the vessel to experience its optical illusion and feel its texture. I'm sure more craftsmanship has been put into Plesl's artwork though.  Anyhow, I'm looking forward to smelling the Jimmy Choo perfume, which by the way is very creatively called "Jimmy Choo".

Eye Candy of the Day

The Weather in London

If you're "lucky" enough to be in London this weekend, you will agree with me on this matter.  In this hi-tech metropolis, where transport has become non-existent, and "adverse weather conditions" have ruined all your plans, you will realize that what you need to get around town is a pair of skis, complete with skiing goggles of course.  With at least 7 cm of frozen snow outside my house, I now have the beautiful choice of skiing or ice-skating in order to get to the local corner-shop.  My brand of choice is obviously Chanel, darlings (I wish).  Stay warm.

Leighton Meester on the cover of Allure

Here's a glimpse of my favorite Gossip Girl Leighton Meester on the cover of January's Allure magazine.  Rumour has it that the acctress has been chosen as the new face of Missoni.  Missoni or not, it's a transparent Louis mac that Leighton is rocking and looking good indeed! Additionally Blake Lively a.k.a. Serena Van Der Woodsen is rumoured to be the new face of Chanel handbags campaign.  I really hope that's true because she would be a perfect muse for Karl and would also make me forget about the puffy monstrosity (Coco Cocoon bag) campaign.

It's Jimmy Choo's Birthday!

Traditionally, 15 year anniversaries are celebrated by gifting CRYSTAL which was the main inspiration behind this capsule collection.  The campaign looks so festive, absolutely perfect for Christmas! Visit the website to see the full collection.  Shoe fetish? Us? No way.

Givenchy Spring 2011 Campaign

Here is a first glimpse of Givenchy's Spring 2011 campaign that is guaranteed to be the most talked about for months to come.  Givenchy's creative director Riccardo Tisci decided to stay true to his last season's unconventional choice of models (transsexual model Lea T.) and cast an albino model Stephen Thompson to front the Spring campaign alongside Daphne Groeneveld.  People who happen to be more cynical than yours truly may say that it's a clever marketing move by the fashion house, but I'd like to believe that such campaigns will change our concept of what beauty is.  I'm not going to bore you with my stance on aesthetics but the first thing that came in my mind was a song by my beloved Gwen Stefani that goes something like: "Beauty is beauty whether it's black or white, yellow or green, baby you know what I mean?  What if Picasso only used one colour?"  Expect to see the campaign in the nearest issues of Vogue.

British Fashion Awards 2010

The fashion crowd has taken over London's Savoy Theater last night for the British Fashion Awards 2010.  I picked out my top three best-dressed women of the evening.  No surprise, Victoria Beckham has not disappointed once again wearing one of her designs from the S/S 2011 collection.  Naomi Campbell chose to pay tribute to the late Alexander McQueen and Claudia Schiffer chose an asymmetric dress by Mary Kantranzou.

And the winners are.........
BFC Outstanding Achievement in Fashion - Alexander McQueen (obviously)
Accessory Designer - Nicholas Kirkwood (not surprised at all)
Model Of The Year - Lara Stone
Menswear Designer - E. Tautz
Emerging Talent Award, Ready-to-wear - Meadham Kirchhoff
Emerging Talent Award, Accessories - Husam El Odeh
Special Recognition - Naomi Campbell
Digital Innovation - Burberry
British Style - Alexa Chung (No comment)
Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator - Nicola Formichetti
Designer Brand - Mulberry (Mmmmmm Alexa...)
