Iris and Karl play dress up

Donatella Versace

John Galliano

Karl Lagerfeld

Rei Kawakubo

Sonia Rykiel

Carolina Herrera

Vivienne Westwood
Iris Strubegger
This is an editorial from March 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar which was shot by Karl Lagerfeld featuring model Iris Strubegger. Titled "Designer Double Take", it sees Iris dressed up as the ultimate maestros of fashion such as John Galliano, Rei Kawakubo and Carolina Herrera. Modestly, there is an impersonation of Karl as well.  The last image is Iris is practically unrecognisable whilst posing as herself. Viva the power of make-up and styling!

Louboutin jacket for Swizz Beatz

A few days ago, Swizz Beatz a.k.a. Mr Alicia Keys, tweeted a photo of a leopard-print biker jacket created by none other but Christian Louboutin himself.  The jacket comes complete with golden studs and signature red lining.  Swizz Beatz seems to be more obsessed with Louboutin than the average woman, me thinks... Your thoughts?

Pik Pik Pik 120 in Nude

These fierce babies are from Mr Loubi's Spring/Summer 2011 collection and they are puuuuurfect! Everything my perfect shoe should be:

1. Slingbacks - perfect for summer
2. Nude colour - looks sexy with a tan
3. Studded - makes a statement and may prove to be handy when kicking (joke)
4. Platform - makes them much more bearable to walk in

Seven Deadly Sins have never looked so attractive

Forget classic  investments!  It's all about making a statement which is exactly what Stephen Webster has created.  Inspired by the 7 deadly sins, ie very unattractive human qualities that we all have to a certain degree (may I add, some more than others), Webster has designed 7 rings which come in a limited edition of 7 of each piece and a juicy price tag that ranges from 98K to 125K.  Not for the faint-hearted, I must say.  Each ring represents a different sin and its details and colours are closely linked to the associations that the designer has with each sin.  I must say that my favorite is Pride (not necessarily because I identify with it the most by the way), with its peacock feather details complete with my favorite stones, amethyst and pink and blue sapphires.  How would you react if you were gifted a ring that represents Greed? Do you take it as an indirect hint or laugh it off and greedily tuck it away in your jewelery box?  An irony in itself... Being bad has never been so good!

Old jumper is back with a vengeance!

My innate reluctance to throw old clothes has proved to be right once again!  The vision of my mother with a bin bag approaching my closet sends me into cold sweat and I throw myself in front of it, ready to protect it with my life (ok exaggeration).  The beauty of this black wooly jumper is that I don't actually remember where it came from, it just ended up on a top shelf on the right with all the tracksuits.  I have been wearing it around the house for the past 6 years or so and have never thought that it would ever make its way out of the confines of the house.  But Alas! This year, during my Christmas break in Cyprus, I have had a revelation whilst rummaging through my lounge-wear. It's black, it's baggy, it's grudge-y and technically vintage!  It's so "Nirvana groupie". What would Mr Marc Jacobs say if he saw it being abused by me for so many years?  I have been looking for a jumper like this for a long time in London but could never find anything that was just right.  I have even visited a few vintage shops which is an accomplishment in itself since I like vintage but would never wear it myself unless I knew exactly where the piece came from.  So here it is, meet the abused jumper, teamed up with camel leggings, black suede wedges and golden accessories.  I promise I'll be nice from now on.
